Dear Sirs,
I am writing this letter to sing the praises of my husband’s amazing hospice nurse, Dani Black.
Dani started seeing my husband, Richard Byham, on Aug. 22, 2025. She was his nurse until his passing on Dec. 4, 2025. Dani’s nursing skills are amazing and skillful, but her bedside manner and her ability to connect with her patient is her real talent. She made it a point to connect with my husband, and myself, as a result, when she came to see Richard, she felt like an old friend. She was always thorough and professional and at the same time warm and friendly. Dani listened carefully when my husband shared how he did not want to be in pain, but also wanted to be able to function. Dani would consult with the doctor after each visit and made recommendations for adjusting Richard’s meds. She was so cognizant and respectful of Richard’s wishes. As a result, when Richard did pass he was at peace and pain free.
I will be forever grateful to Dani for her professionalism, support and kindness to Richard, as well as to me. As Richard’s caregiver, there were times I wasn’t sure what to do. However, knowing I could text Dani and receive a timely answer to my text brought me great comfort and relief.
Sincerely,
Pilar Byham
